Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk will be named the PFA Players’ Player of the year ahead of teammate Sadio Mane, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and three other nominees.
Van Dijk who joined the Reds from Southampton in the Summer was bought for a record fee for a defender and has turned them into EPL title contenders.
Since joining Liverpool, the Dutchman has brought some steel to the Red’s defence line; they have lost just one game this league season and conceded the least number of goals (20) among the top five teams across Europe’s top five leagues.

If he emerges, Van Dijk will be the first CB to win the honor and he would have also edged out Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling as the EPL’s stand out player in 2019.
