Coach of Nigeria Premier basketball league side Defenders basketball club Paul Gwomber has highlighted valuable lessons for his side after been knocked out of the ongoing Africa Basketball League by defending Africa champions AS Sale of Morocco at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Gwomber speaking in a chat with www.brila.net rued losing out of the competition but stressed it was an eventful outing for his side getting as far as the quarter-final stage of the competition for the first time in the club’s history.
He commended his players for a job well done and said the future is definitely bright for his young side.
“It’s an eye-opener for me, it has taught me a lot. Coming to my team, it’s a very young team and this team will go a very long way in basketball in this continent.
In the Africa basketball league, we’re the least both in size, age, and inexperience. We didn’t expect to win it because it’s a team against a side that has been on the continent for a long time and this is just our first time.”
Defenders basketball club lost the away leg in Morocco 96-77 after been held in the first leg at home 69-69 by AS Sale.
