General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan Rasheed Balogun, has charged the players of the club to rise up to the occasion ahead of the 2018/19 season of the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Addressing the players during their training session on Monday afternoon, Balogun urged the players to bear in mind that the teeming followers of the club are looking forward to nothing but a rewarding performance from them this season.
While charging them to approach the new season which commences on Wednesday with utmost seriousness, he also read out riot acts to the players, warning that the club would not condone any below-par performance from any of them.
“The government is doing its best to ensure you get the best and the management is also not resting to make sure you lack nothing, so nothing is expected from you other than positive results.
“You can attest to the fact that we are doing our best in terms of your welfare and the best way to reciprocate this gesture is to play well, not only that, convert as many chances as you can and ultimately secure a promotion ticket”, said the former Dolphins of Port Harcourt top official.
He warned the players against been complacent, admitting that the group in which the team is can be regarded as the toughest going by the pedigree of teams in the group.
While commending the players for their performances in the build up to the season, he expressed dismay over the poor goalscoring form of the club, charging them to improve in this department.
Shooting Stars narrowly miss out of promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League last season following their defeats at the NFF super eight in Aba.
The Oluyole Warriors will kick start their campaign this season with a home game against Abia Comets on Wednesday before traveling to Enugu for a match day two game against Giant Briller this weekend.
