Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has outlined his plan to finish at least in the semi-final or final of the forthcoming AFCON in Egypt while doing his duty of scoring goals along the way.
Ighalo netted a brace in Shanghai Shenhua’s 5-1 thrashing of Beijing Renhe in their Chinese Super League clash at the Hongkou Stadium over the weekend.
Ighalo has now scored four goals in four league appearances for Shanghai Shenhua this season.
The former Watford striker is now the joint top scorer in the CSL with four goals along with Eran Zahavi, who plays for Guangzhou R&F, and speaking with www.brila.net, Ighalo added that even if he does not score in every game, he will ensure the Eagles get to win their matches.
“My personal goal is to try and do well with the national team, do better and hopefully be in the last four of the tournament or the last two”
“As you know I am a striker, and people will always judge me by the goals that I score so I will try and score goals but if it not possible, then I will do my best to ensure the team wins”.
He was second top scorer in the CSL last season with 21 goals in 28 appearances for his former club Changchun Yatai.
The draws for the AFCON to be held later this year in Egypt will go down on Friday, 12th of April 2019.
