Rosana Paz, who officiates in the Argentina Liga Sanjuanina (sixth tier), was running down the touchline in her role as assistant referee when she suffered a sickening attack; an angry fan ‘threw boiling water over her’ she continued officiating till the end of the game and wishes to continue as a referee despite the attack.
The female official, who is 46 and works as an administrative assistant alongside her football role – insists that she has not been put off refereeing and instead wants to continue.
She says ‘Whether it’s a man or a woman who is attacked, this type of thing can’t happen, But I’m not going to give up. I’m going to carry on. “
she has gotten past the horrible experience and can’t wait to back in action ‘It’s hard being a woman in football, but I’m not going to give in. I hope I’m picked to referee this weekend.’
