Rangers failed to take their chances, says Etoile boss Roger Lamerre

Etoile du Sahel Head Coach  Roger Lemerre says his side was able to overcome Rangers International of Enugu in one of CAF Confederations Cup matches held last Sunday at Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium because his wards took the opportunities that came their way.

After fallen 2-1 in Tunis in the first meeting last week, Rangers International needed a win to retain their healthy position in the Group but goals from Hannachi Maher and Mohammed Msakni in the 19th and 69th minutes from the penalty spot for the Tunisians was enough to cause setback for the Nigerians recovery.

While praising his team for another three points gained, the former Chief Coach of France stated that the Flying Antelopes gave his team a difficult game,  but his team composure in front of goal was excellent.

It was a tough match against a very good side,” Lemerre told the media.

“Rangers failed to take their chances while we took our own. Any team can still qualify for the quarter-finals.”

Rangers are third in Group B with four points from four games and they must secure a win against Salitas of Burkina Faso this weekend if they are to remain in contention for a knock out place.
