The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation have informed that the Women’s Rugby team, will leave for the Las Vegas Invitational Sevens Tournament this weekend.
The players who have only had a few practice sessions together for the Sevens invitational will open their campaign against New Mexico U, Phoenix and Chicago Lions Black in their first match in Pool A.
In a statement released by the NRFF president; Kelechukwu Mbagwu, he disclosed the team was assembled, primarily, with players based abroad.
“We are good to go. They are promising and young talents drew from the diaspora and they can stun any opponent”.
Nigeria is looking forward to participating at the Africa Women’s Sevens 2019 which also doubles as 2020 Olympic qualifiers.
The last time our Women participated in any international competition was in the year 2010 hosted in Ghana where they lost narrowly to Tunisia in the final to win Silver.
