Renato Sanches admits he has failed to live up to expectations during his first season with the Bavarians.
The Portuguese midfielder arrived at the Allianz Arena last summer in a £27.5million move from Benfica off the back of an impressive season and an excellent feat at the Euro 2016 but has struggled to find his feet at the German giants.
The 19-year-old has only managed six starts in the Bundesliga.
Speaking to the Chinese media, he has accepted that he must improve in 2017-18.
‘It was not very good, but the next season is sure to be better,’ he said.
‘I was expecting more, of course, but I’m confident that the future will be better.
‘I had a few minutes this season and I have to play to be more and more prepared.’
The Euro 2016 winner is fully focused on finding his feet early on next season but did not want to dwell on his mediocre campaign.
‘I do not want to talk about that, I feel good at Bayern,’ he said.
‘The goal is to play more and be more influential in the team.’
