Sunshine Stars youngster Ayo Adebuju says he’s delighted to make his debut for the club in the Nigeria Professional Football League in a 2-0 victory over Katsina United on Monday.
The 14-year old was introduced in the second half of the game by Coach Kabir Dogo who is known for his ability to nurture unknown talents to a household name in the league.
Adebuju told the media that the moment was a dream come true for him to finally get a chance to play at the highest level of Nigeria club football.
“It was a moment of joy for me when my coach told me to warm up. I feel delighted that after making the bench on our last home match and away game at Tornadoes, I finally made my debut, especially in front of home fans.
“When I came in I was a little bit scared, but after two successful touches, I felt no pressure. I thank God that the goals came in after I was introduced to the game.
The teenager, however, expressed his gratitude towards the technical crew for the faith shown in him.
“I want to express my appreciation to the coaching crew led by Coach Kabir Dogo who is like a father to me for the opportunity. They all gave me confidence because they believe in me. I promise not to let them and the fans down whenever I am given such opportunity,” Adejubu said.
Adejubu replaced Chibundu Amah in the 64th minute as Dayo Ojo and Fuad Ekelojuoti scored to the Kabir Dogo’s side the maximum points.
