Former Egypt star Abdelghani tips Pharaohs to host and win 2019 AFCON

Former Egyptian forward, Magdi Abdelghani has tipped the hosts Egypt to win the tournament after securing the hosting rights ahead of South Africa.

Abdelghani in an interview with brila.net said he met with Mo Salah in Europe over the past weeks and the African Footballer of the year disclosed the National team’s intention to host and win.

The 59-year-old former Al Ahly striker is currently a Board member of the Egyptian Football Association. He is also a member of the FIFPro.

Abdelghani, however, acknowledges the qualities of the Nigeria Super Eagles but he still feels the Egyptian side have what it takes to conquer Africa in June.

He also competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics and helped the Pharaohs win the 1986 African Cup of Nations on home soil. He also won an All-African Games gold medal in 1987.
