Anthony Joshua has described the moment he warned Wladimir Klitschko he would ‘f*** him up’ if he failed to finish him off in the sixth round of their heavyweight fight at Wembley on Saturday night.

The heavyweight champion of the world looked to be on the brink of defeat before picking himself up from the canvas to secure an emphatic victory.

Battling on having knocked Klitschko down in the fifth before he himself was grounded in the sixth, Joshua goaded his opponent before winning with an eleventh round stoppage.

Speaking of the moment he spoke to Klitschko mid-fight, Joshua told Colin Murray at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club: ‘I was talking to him and I just told him “If you let me get through this round, I’m gonna beep (f***) you up” and he said “I’m going to knock you out”. It’s competition talk.’

Winning the fight with a stunning uppercut in the eleventh round, Joshua compared the moment to an ‘exorcism’.

‘I knew these two rounds were vital I knew it was close. I stepped it up, boom boom boom boom. Subconsciously, I don’t know where it came from, I just whipped it up and saw his chin… it was like an exorcism where he’s looking at the back of the crowd.

‘He started trying to disguise when you’re hurt and I thought this is my chance to take him out and I just tried to land every punch, I threw the kitchen sink at him and I finally got him out of there in the end.’
