Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho returned to action for his Spanish Segunda side Elche as they played out a goalless draw with Sporting Gijon in a Spanish second division game on Sunday.
Uzoho was sidelined for a month after he fractured his ribs in Elche’s 5-1 loss to Cadiz which ruled him out Nigeria’s 2019 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa in Johannesburg back in November.
In his absence, Elche did not win a game which includes two lossesand draw in the league, only recorded a single clean sheet in the process.
The Super Eagles 2018 World Cup goalkeeper made three excellent saves in the seventh, 21st and 55th minutes of the encounter to keep his side in the game.
It is the third clean sheet of the season for Uzoho, but Elche are still searching for their first victory after five matches in all competitions.
Next for them is a trip to Rayo Majadahonda on Sunday and anything short of victory will heap pressure on the technical crew of the team.
