The current World footballer of the year now only trails pop stars Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Beyonce in the list of celebrity accounts, and he will have his eyes firmly fixed on eclipsing the Crazy in Love singer’s 101 million followers in the coming months.
While he is fifth in the overall standings for celebrities with most followers, he can at least take solace from the fact his is the first male to reach the 100million club, and he does indeed boast the first account to have as many fans on two social platforms, having already broken the mark on Facebook.
His is top post, ranked by likes and comments, shows the Madeira-born star sat on the bonnet of his latest Bugatti car in February – which reached almost 4 million likes.
