2018 AWCON: Ghana and Cameroon are Nigeria’s biggest threats

After Sunday’s draw for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations former Super Falcons Head Coach Christopher Danjuma insists Nigeria’s chances of reaching the 2019 Women’s World Cup will be a real test.

The Falcons seeded in Group B will take on South Africa, Zambia and Kenya during the first stage of the 2018 AWCON competition and Danjuma explained that Nigeria shouldn’t have a problem advancing.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, it will also serve as qualifiers for the World Cup, where the last three teams will pick automatic tickets.

Should Nigeria advance from the group it will face either the Group A leader or runner-up; Ghana and Cameroon have been tipped.

Speaking with Brila.net Danjuma who was in charge of the Falcons after the World Cup in 2015 maintains that the idea of facing any of the Black Stars or Indomitable Lioness will be dicey.

The 2018 AWCON is the 11th edition of the competition and Nigeria’s Falcons have won eight editions; making them the most successful team in the competition.
