‘The God of Football’ has not been fair to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and it does it seem their fortunes has changed one bit, with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying draw pitching them against their worst nightmare, Nigeria.

The 1996 Afcon winners are seeking to return to the competition in 2019; when Cameroon hosts, but drawn in Group E with three-time African champions, Nigeria as well as Libya and Seychelles, the South Africans are already counting their losses according to former Nigeria International, Greg Etafia.

Bafana missed the 2017 Afcon; as did Nigeria, but the latter has seen a steady improvement since the appointment of Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, and the Eagles rate as one of Africa’s best teams on current form.

Etafia, however, warns that whilst South Africans are wary of the threat Nigeria poses, the Super Eagles must bring their ‘A’ game when the sides clash in June.

He said the fans in South Africa recognize Nigeria as the biggest threat in the group, but insists Rohr’s men can’t be complacent.
