They say, if you want something so bad, go out and get it… or something like that.
But those words must have echoed in John Ogu’s ears, severally in the days leading to the title decider for on Saturday he struck the title winning goal in Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s 2-1 win against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Ogu threaded an incision pass to captain, Elyanir Barda, whose effort was parried away by the Tel Aviv goalie.
The ball fell gracefully and invitingly for John Ogu, who only had to pick his spot, slotting it past a pile of scrambling bodies ; defenders and a distraught goalkeeper.

That 89th minute goal was the 29-year-old’s first in the league in 28 appearances, and it couldn’t have been at a better time.
It marked only the second time in the club’s history of securing back to back Ligat Ha’al titles.
Clearly, Ogu was perhaps the most celebrated man in Beersheba, Israel and the middle east on Saturday as fans poured out on twitter – like his teammates did forming a human mountain during the goal celebration.
