African Wrestling Championship: Nigeria Picks 2 Gold, 3 Silver and a Bronze Medal

Nigeria’s Senior Female Wrestlers won two gold medals, three silver and a bronze medal in different weight Categories on Saturday at the ongoing African Wrestling Championship in Marrakech , Morocco.

Inspired by Adeniyi Aminat Oluwafunmilayo (58.0kg), who also won gold at the 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in Johannesburg, Genesis Miesinnei Mercy also turned up with a gold-winner’s performance in the 48.0kg Women’s Freestlye against Algeria’s Chaimaa Kheira.

 

Samuel Bose ( 53.0kg), Adekuoroye Odunayo Folashade (55.0), Oborududu Blessing (63.0) all picked up Silver medals while Gofit Winnie (75.0) finished with a Bronze.

 

The Nigerian girls held their own in a tough pool that had Cameroon and Tunisia putting up some real fight.

 

The  2017 African Wrestling Championships ends on Sunday.
