Clarence Seedorf has been appointed the head coach of Cameroon’s national football team, the Indomitable Lions, ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports made the announcement on Saturday and Seedorf will be assisted by his former Dutch teammate, Patrick Kluivert, per Africanews.
The appointment of the former AC Milan Manager, ends a long controversy over the succession of Hugo Broos who led Cameroon to the continental title at the 2017 CAN tournament in Gabon.
Seedorf, 42, also managed Chinese division one side, Shenzhen FC before he was appointed Manager of La Liga club, Deportivo La Coruna.
His assistant, Patrick Kluivert was Louis van Gaal’s assistant at the 2014 World Cup with the Netherlands.
Yaounde will host the next competition in 2019 and preparations are already underway.
