Gernot Rohr will name his final world cup squad after Saturday’s friendly against England’s Three Lions.
The Super Eagles gaffer initially named a 30-man provisional squad last month and has pruned the number after Nigeria’s friendly against DR Congo in Port Harcourt.
Four players were dropped from the team and put on standby, while a widely reported fifth name – Moses Simon – is a major injury doubt.
Dele Ajiboye, Stephen Eze, Uche Agbo and Junior Lokosa were dropped from the trip to London on Wednesday.
According the team’s media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, Thursday’s training session set the tone for a healthy competition among the players.
Rohr’s possibles and probables were pitched in the session and it was a tough duel, Ibitoye explained in a telephone interview with Babafemi Raji on Brila FM’s Sports Machine.
The team is due to train again later Today at the Wembley Stadium.
