Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has indicated signs that 19-year-old Derpotivo La Coruna Shot stopper will be Nigeria’s first choice Goalie at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Uzoho has manned the Goal-post in the country’s four friendlies and according to ScoreNigeria, the Franco-German tactician said this could be an indication he will be first choice in time for the FIFA Mundial taking place next Month in Russia.
“It’s an indication (he could be No 1),” Rohr admitted.
“He hasn’t played too much with us as he came after the World Cup qualifiers
“We wanted to see the young goalkeeper play for the first time in Nigeria
“I think he did well, he did what he had to do.”
However, Uzoho was lucky the referee overlooked what looked like a penalty caused by him in the second half of Monday’s friendly against DR Congo.
The other Goalkeepers in contention for the first spot are Enyimba’s Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Plateau United’s Dele Ajiboye and Chippa United’s Daniel Akpeyi.
All the trio have not been able to convincingly secure the Number One position after erstwhile first choice, Carl Ikeme stepped aside due to illness.
Nigeria wiill tomorrow travel to London ahead of June 2nd Pre-World Cup game against the Three Lions at the famous Wembley Stadium.
