Former Everton and Arsenal Captain, Mikel Arteta has agreed in principle to replace Arsene Wenger and become the new manager at Arsenal.
According to Goal’s Chris Wheatley, The former Gunners Skipper’s return to the club is set to be announced in the coming days having overseen a major cull of their backroom staff.
It is understood that while no contract has yet been signed, the 36-year-old’ pending arrival has played a role in the sackings that happened in the last 24hours at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta would seek to bring in at least three of his own appointments with further backroom changes expected.
It has been mooted that Santi Cazorla could be offered a new player-coaching deal, with a role like Michael Carrick’s in his last playing season at Manchester United.
