Report: NPFL will go on World Cup Break

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will go on break by June 2 for the World Cup.

As per Kola Daniel [SCORENigeria] a top League Management Company (LMC) official informed disclosed “The league will break on June 2 for the World Cup.”

“Most of the leagues still on at the time of the World Cup will only be running on the special permission of FIFA, like the league in Ghana which started late because of several issues.”

 

So far, 20 matches have been played in the Nigeria top flight division and the world cup kicks off next month.

 

The tournament will kick off on 14 June, while Nigeria play their opening match against Croatia on 16 June.

 

Nigeria are housed in Group D against along with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.
