Nigeria’s medal chances in the men’s 100 meters final has been handed a boost, but sadly at the expense of England, after Adam Gemili withdrew from Monday’s race due to injury.
On Monday, Gemili announced via social media that “the doctors have said I am unable to take part.”

Gemili’s absence means Jamaica’s Johan Blake could become the overwhelming favorite, but it also gives the Nigerian duo of Enoch Olaoluwa and Seye Ogunlewe solid opportunities in the field to capture medals.
