Swedish Club Kalmar, Raja Casablanca set to battle for CHAN Eagles star Gabriel Okechukwu

Swedish Clubside, Kalmar and three-time African champions, Raja Casablanca are set to battle for the signature of Super Eagles human, Gabriel Okechukwu.

The club last month landed Nigerian defence duo of Gbenga Arokoyo and Chima Akas, but the club are apparently not willing to hand off yet.

It is likely that a swoop by the club for another Nigeria international could be in the offing for the 22-year-old.

It is reported that Kalmar head coach Nanne Bergstrand is belived to be a close admirer of the star player who pulled the strings for the Nigeria contingent at the home-based tournament.

A scout of Kalmar was said to be different stadia where Nigeria during the tournament to monitor Okechukwu.

Okechukwu played a big role in Nigeria surge to their first ever final of the CHAN tournament, after one previous third place finish.

As one of the outstanding players for the Nigerian national team, Okechukwu scored two goals and that quickly caught the attention of three-time African champions Raja Casablanca.

The Moroccan giants were said to be open in their bid to have Okechukwu in their squad and that will be a great uphill task with a European club also seeking his services.

He is regarded as the Nigerian Robin Van Persie having started his hitherto sterling career with Water FC.

He has previously donned the jerseys of TEAP FC, St. George’s F.C. and FC Karpaty Lviv.
