Former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has responded to the possibility of him making Argentina’s squad for 2018 World Cup.

Caballero gave his verdict amid speculation that manager Jorge Sampaoli is contemplating over inviting him to the national team.

The former Chelsea FC second choice shot-stopper has kept three clean sheets in eight appearances for the Blues in all competitions this season.

Speaking to Radio Continental, Caballero denied being in contact with the National Team Manager and he doesn’t know whether to be happy or not over the speculation.

”The technician did not talk to me, I do not know whether to get excited or not because I do not have any closer contact to believe it,” Caballero said.

Due to a result of a recurring injury sustained by Chelsea’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Caballero started four consecutive games in January.

”Courtois is the starter but we have a very good competition, Conte is going to use him for the Premier and the Champions League, and I know that I will play the other Cups. My goal is to convince him,” the veteran said.

Nigeria will face Argentina for a record fifth time in the group stage of a World Cup on June 26 at Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg.
