Fortuna Sittard denies sacking Manager Sunday Oliseh

Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard have denied reports that they parted ways with Manager and former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh.

There have been rumours that the 43-year-old Nigerian tactician had been dismissed by the club who currently sit third in the Dutch second side.

However, the club on Tuesday took to the social media to debunk the story insisting that the Oliseh still remains the head coach.

Oliseh was appointed to the position in late December 2016 after his miserable spell in charge of Super Eagles, leading them the home-based Eagles to an early exit from African Nations Championship in Rwanda.

Oliseh joined the Dutch side in December and has led them to their first silverware since 1995.

Fortuna Sittard who are chasing promotion to Dutch Eredivisie have had terrible time since the turn of the New Year, managing two wins from five.

Since getting a 2-1 victory over Jong Ajax on 12 January, Sittard have stumbled following a back to back defeats at the hands of Dordrecht and Emmen.

The losses may have triggered off the speculations that Fortunezen has sacked the manager.

“Today, various media reports appeared about the position of head coach, Sunday Oliseh.

However, Fortuna Sittard denies the news about the dismissal of the head coach” the club said.

Fortuna Sittard is third on the log after Matchday 20 in the 20-team Eerste Divisie with 44 points in 22 matches.

Their next game comes against 15th place Volendam on Friday.
