When Rabiu Ali stepped onto the Stade Adrar, Agadir turf on Tuesday night for the Super Eagles, he officially became the oldest outfield player to wear the national colors and to score in an official game.

Rabiu, 37, came on as a 62nd minute substitute and netted a penalty in the 83rd minute as Nigeria secured a 3-1 win against Group C whopping boys, Equatorial Guinea.

The victory also meant Salisu Yusuf’s men finished top of the group after Libya sealed a sensational 1-0 victory against Rwanda.

Since making his international debut in 2013, the player fondly called ‘Pele’ has earned 13 caps [Wikipedia] till date for Nigeria – although it could be more.

In addition, Ali is the second oldest player at the CHAN 2018 just behind 38 year-old Congo goalie, Barel Mouko.

The Nigerian midfielder, who is also one-club man, has been a player at Kano Pillars since 2011.
