Rwanda also got their first win of the 2018 CHAN after beating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in a Group C match at the Stade Ibn Batouta in Tangier on Friday night.
Both sides started the game in a lukewarm mode with neither country very threatening in the final third and consequently chances on goal were at a low.
The first 45-minutes ended in a boring goalless situation.
Second 45-minutes saw Rwanda taking a change on the game, but despite their dominance their finishing never changed from poor.
Nonetheless, the Rwandans persisted and opened the scoring in the 67th minute when centre-back Thierry Manzi headed home a corner-kick to give them the lead.
This woke up the Equatorial Guinea attack and they began to push forward in search of the equaliser, but the Rwandan keeper Eric Ndayishimiye was in fine form and made numerous good saves to keep his side in front.
Rwanda held on for a slender 1-0 win which sees them joint leaders of Group C with four points from two games.
Nigeria are also on four points following their opening Group C draw against Rwanda and a 1-0 win over Libya earlier.
