Man City Boss Guardiola wins record 4th straight Manager of the Month award

Chelsea’s Antonio Conte’s three in a row in between October and December 2016 was the previous record but Pep Guardiola has now set a new record of four consecutive Awards.

Guardiola has led City to a remarkable 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League, winning 20 of their 22 matches.

In December, Guardiola led the league-leaders to win six of their seven games – beating West Ham, Manchester United, Swansea, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Newcastle.

Their sole draw was the goalless encounter away to Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.

Guardiola topped the six-man shortlist, including Sam Allardyce, Antonio Conte, Roy Hodgson, Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino to break the record.

The Spaniard’s four in a row take his overall tally to five Manager of the Month awards… meaning he still has a way to go to break the overall record.

During his distinguished career, Sir Alex Ferguson racked up an astonishing 27 awards, ahead of Arsene Wenger in second with 15 and third-placed David Moyes, with ten.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane won Player of the Month for December, after netting eight times in a superb month.

The Spurs man, 24,  scored two hat-tricks in that span – in back-to-back games against Burnley and Southampton – as well as a brace against Stoke.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth star Jermain Defoe has been handed the Goal of the Month award for December.

The England striker, 35, scored a stunning, looped half-volley in the 2-2 thriller with Crystal Palace to take home the prize.
