Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Greg Etafia’s 16-year-old son, Kevin Etafia has a signed a two and half years professional contract with Highlands Park FC of South Africa.
The central defender, who can also play as left-back, steps up, after passing through the youth ranks at Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions, Bidvets Wits.
Though the contract begins on January 1, the youngster, who holds dual citizenship, has been given permission to start immediately for Highlands Park, who last season played in the top-flight PSL before they were relegated.
While Greg Etafia has quit playing, after featuring in the PSL for several years, and is now the goalkeeper trainer of PSL side, Baroka, he is happy to see his son join The Lions of the North, who are based in Johannesburg.
He said: “Kevin has signed a pro deal with Highlands Park. We are all delighted with the amazing progress he has made in the game and we believe he has the platform to take his game to a new level.”
