Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been named in a police report investigating Catalan independence.
Activists Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart were imprisoned after October’s referendum was deemed illegal by Spain’s government.
They are being investigated for alleged ‘rebellion’ and reports suggest Guardiola is cited in the police report which will now be passed to the investigating Supreme Court judge Pablo Llaren.
Guardiola is a known supporter of the campaign for Catalonia to become an independent state and one that isn’t governed by Spain’s central government in Madrid.
The City boss attended a pro-independence rally in Barcelona in the summer with Carles Puigdemont, president of the Catalan government, along with tens of thousands of demonstrators.
