Iwobi on the verge of making History (Even King Kanu failed)

Alex Iwobi is on the verge of making League Cup history with Arsenal following the Gunners 1-0 quarter-final victory against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Iwobi was an unused sub as Arsene Wenger’s men scrapped through to secure a win against the Irons courtesy a Danny Welbeck 42nd minute goal.

The victory means the Nigerian is a step closer to achieving a major feat; one even Arsenal Legend Kanu Nwankwo didn’t.

Kanu joined Arsenal in 1999 – three years after Wenger’s appointment – and won every silverware in England save the League Cup (now Carabao Cup).

If Iwobi and his teammates manage to secure two more wins then for the 21-year-old, he’ll become the first Nigerian in an Arsenal jersey to hoist the cup.
