Francis Uzoho towers at 1.96 meters, making him the tallest player in the current Super Eagles squad and even five meters taller than the best goalkeeper in the world; Gianluigi Buffon, and he’s aiming high.
Uzoho, who is also only 19 is perhaps the youngest goalkeeper to have earned a call up to the senior team.
He made history in October as the youngest goalkeeper to make a La Liga appearance at just 18 years and 352 days when he suited up for Deportivo La Coruna.
A former striker, Uzoho was converted to goalkeeping because his youth coaches said he was too slow.
On Monday, he’ll be looking forward to his first senior cap for Nigeria when the Eagles face a Messi-less Albiceleste in an international friendly in the Russian city of Krasnodar.
Soft-spoken and a giant with an infectious smile, he told the Super Eagles official page he’s “motivated to work harder” now after gaining such recognition.
” I’m very happy to be in the Super Eagles camp, It’s a dream come true for me and it motivates me to work harder than I used to before.
“I also thank all my supporters in Nigeria, their support means so much to me.”
