A club President in the Italian Serie A has blamed “Witches” for his team’s troubled start to the season so far.
Benevento President Oreste Vigorito insists the club’s poor form is as a result of the “malignant influences” associated with Benevento, Campania – the city where the club is based.
Though Vigorito is confident the newly-promoted side can stay up in the division, the Stregoni have lost all 12 of their games so far this season, scoring five goals and conceding 31.
“There’s so much praise from everywhere, but always without points,” Vigorito lamented, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The blame lies with the malignant influences which have always been associated with this city… witches. Yes, it’s true. I’m superstitious.
“One thing is certain though, we’ll stay in Serie A because we won’t give up.”
