Rangers FC confirms Ogunbote as new coach, as Agoye picks Assistant for 3SC job

Former Enyimba coach Gbenga Ogunbote has penned a contract deal with Enugu Rangers and the full details will be revealed later this week.
Ogunbote will now replace Sylvanus Okpala, whose two-month stop-gap managerial role will run out tomorrow.

“Ogunbote has signed as Rangers new coach,” an official of the Enugu State sports ministry said.

“He will resume in the first week of November when Sylvanus Okpalla’s two-month deal would have expired.”

He has previously handled Sunshine Stars, Giwa FC, and Shooting Stars. Ogunbote was in Enugu for contract talks with Rangers. But what has not been decided as at now is what government will do with Okpala at the end of his two-month deal.

Meanwhile, Recently appointed Head Coach of the Shooting Stars Football Club, Olumide Edith Agoye has picked an assistant coach. He is Yinka Popoola ‘Gullit’.

Popoola, before this appointment, was a coach with the club’s U-15 team to last NFL – La Liga Junior tournament in Lagos and he will join Kabiru Alausa and Lati Yusuf to complete the list of the Shooting Stars technical crew.

The Technical Crew at a glance; Edith Agoye (Head Coach), Lati Yusuf (Goalkeeper Coach), Kabiru Alausa(Assistant Coach), Yinka Popoola (Assistant Coach).

The Ibadan club lost 2-0 away to Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja on the final day of the season.

Their relegation was confirmed after it was reported that another team fighting relegation, Wikki Tourists, pipped Gombe United 1-0 in Gombe. But reports later surfaced, that the game was abandoned due to crowd trouble.

Following the development, LMC has now come out to state that until the match report of the game between Gombe United and Wikki Tourists is available, the fourth team that will join Remo, ABS and Gombe (Wikki and 3SC) in the lower division was decided after the game.
