New Deportivo La Coruna Coach backs Uzoho to continue as number one

Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho ‎will likely be retaining his spot as the first-choice goalkeeper of Spanish La-Liga side Deportivo La Coruna following the sacking of coach Pepe Mel.

Mel gave Uzoho is the first-team bow at the club, but he was sacked after their last league game which they lost 1-2 to Girona, and his sacking has led to talks about Uzoho losing his first choice spot.

The club appointed coach of Deportivo B Cristobal Parralo ‎to be in temporary charge until the end of the season, and his appointment will no doubt help Uzoho cement his spot as the first choice.

Parralo was the coach who signed Uzoho to the club and recommended him to the first team after just two months with the B team, where he displaced the first choice goalkeeper.

A member of the Nigeria U17 team of 2013, Uzoho will no doubt relish the prospect of working with Parralo who once described him as one of the best hands he has worked with at junior level.

Meanwhile, Nigeria international Isaac Success faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury.

Although it is unknown the exact date the Watford star will be back in action, he has returned to the United Kingdom to receive treatment, along with former Chelsea starlet Nathaniel Chalobah who is recovering from a knee injury.

”Isaac Success has returned to England from Barcelona, Spain. He was given crutches to assist him to walk,” a top source told brila.net

”No date has been fixed for his comeback, he has not started training. He is receiving treatment every day, Chalobah and Success have appointments with the doctors every other day”.

It is a foregone conclusion that Success will not be invited for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the friendly with Argentina when manager Gernot Rohr announces his squad list in the next one week.

The 21-year-old has not featured for the Golden Boys in the Premier League this season.
