Ex-international, Ifeanyi Udeze has insisted that the introduction of Premier League youth team will make an “immediate impact” in increasing opportunities for young players to make things happen in the lower ranks of the National team.
Udeze, while speaking on Brila FM’s breakfast sports show earlier today make comments on the progress of the English U17 team to the final in the ongoing world cup.
Udeze frowned at the situation where Coaches have to be traveling across different states to pick players who will represent the country at tournaments. “You can see England, as soon as they set up the facility to enhance the development of young footballers, things have changed for them.
In this year alone, England have won the U20 European championship, now they are in the U17 world cup finals”
The former WBA defender, however, tasked the management of Nigeria professional football league to open up a league for the youth teams of all the clubs in the Nigerian league.
This, in his opinion, will boost and enhance the development of football in the country.
“Each state should be conducting principal’s cup where these young talented kids will be discovered and signed up to the youth squads of various football clubs across the country,” Udeze told brila.net
