Nigeria international, Efetobore Ambrose, has expressed his delight over the good job done by the new-look super Eagles defense and the whole team under Coach Gernot Rohr on their qualification for the Russia 2018 FIFA world cup.
The Hibernian FC of Scotland defender, Ambrose spoke exclusively to brila.net in an interview earlier today and was optimistic that the team will do well in Russia.
“No one gave the team a chance, Everyone said it’s the group of death but the boys have done exceptionally well to become the first Africa team to reach Russia.
The player, however, maintained that his Super Eagles career is not over, declaring that he is still available for a call-up even though it all depends on the technical crew.
“I have not retired from the national team,” Ambrose told brila.net.
“I love Super Eagles and will always support my country whenever they play. I love what the coaching crew is doing with the team and all I have to do is work hard to earn a recall.”
Ambrose has not played for the Super Eagles since Nigeria’s 1-0 loss away to Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) qualifier in March 2016.
Since then, the former Celtic defender has not been called-up but he insists he still has a lot to offer to the Super Eagles in terms of his Experience and exposure.
The 28-year-old was a regular in the Super Eagles under Sunday Oliseh before the manager resigned in February 2016.
He was invited by the then interim boss Samson Siasia for the doubleheader against Egypt in March 2016 for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
