Shakespeare’s Sack good for Iheanacho, Musa

Craig Shakespeare’s sack may be a blessing in disguise for Nigerian players in Leicester, particularly Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa according to the Chairman Brila Media Dr. Larry Izamoje.

Shakespeare was shown the exit on Tuesday after a poor start to the season for the Foxes.

Apparently, the last straw was a 1-1 result against West Brom on Monday night.

Starting summer buy, Iheanacho for only the second time in the league and Ahmed Musa completely out of the squad, Shakespeare’s failed to get the best out of the Nigerians.

Iheanacho endured a difficult night against the Baggies as he waits to score his first goal for the Foxes.

Another Nigerian enduring a difficult time at the club is Ahmed Musa.

Musa joined the 2016/17 EPL champions from CSKA Moscow as the club’s most expensive signing, until Islam Slimani came through.

The 25-year-old had also dropped down the pecking order at the club.

Reacting to the news, Dr. Larry Izamoje said Shakespeare’s sack could spark something new for the Nigerian contingent at the club.

‘For Nigerians we need to look at our players. I was shocked to find Iheanacho playing just behind Vardy against West Brom. That is not his natural position or the one they’ve tried to make him play even at Manchester City.

‘The bad positioning of our player accounted for why he spent so much time on the field and did not record a shot at goal. And so you find that the strategy adopted by Shakespeare would have ruined our player.

‘So for Iheanacho and Nigerians, though it is not good to celebrate the down fall of a man, I think there’s light at the end of the tunnel for the player, because the man wanted to play him continuously out of position.

‘And immediately he removed Iheanacho he brought a guy who further nailed Iheanacho’s future in that club, Slimani who did the right thing for Mahrez to score.

‘Here we have a Coach who does not clearly understand materials given to him and how to use them.

‘Ahmed Musa kept falling in the pecking order under this Coach, Shakespeare.

‘Only last week Ndidi played and returned to Leicester with a slight injury, some Coaches would have rested him, but the boy was told you’re good enough; the doctors have cleared you go and play.

‘We’ve seen cases where players have these kind of slight injuries returning from International football and are told rest one more week. Therefore how did he perform against West Brom? We’ve seen better performances,’ Dr. Izamoje explained.

53-year-old Shakespeare was only 4 months into his three-year contract at the King Power Stadium before the sack.
