Arthur Okonkwo has expressed his excitement and pride after switching his international allegiance to represent Nigeria, describing the opportunity as a dream come true.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper stated that playing for Nigeria would be a huge honor and revealed that he has been waiting for the opportunity for a long time.

Okonkwo recently completed the process of changing his international allegiance and is now eligible to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.
Speaking about the decision, Okonkwo said:
“It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to play for your country and I am so excited.
“I can’t wait. I have been waiting for this moment for quite a while now and to have the opportunity, it’s really incredible.”
Okonkwo enjoyed an impressive campaign with Wrexham AFC during the season, making a total of 44 appearances across all competitions.

His performances further strengthened his reputation as one of the promising goalkeepers eligible for Nigeria.
A breakdown of his appearances shows that Okonkwo featured 39 times in the EFL Championship, made three appearances in the FA Cup, and played twice in the EFL Cup during the campaign.
His decision to commit to Nigeria will be seen as a significant boost for the Super Eagles, who continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers set to start in September.
