Indomitable Lions’ of Cameroon ‘s Head coach Hugo Broos welcomed 20 of the invited 23 players to the Yaounde camp.

Coach Broos excused three players from the qualifiers and in their places has invited replacements.

According to the reports actual practice will commences on Tuesday and the team could depart for Uyo on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, after the weekend’s league match against Jiangsu in the Chinese Super League, Lions forward Christian Bassogog said he’s now focused on the qualifiers.

In a chat with local journalists, William Tchango and Léger Tientcheu Bassogog insists the Lions have a reputation to protect against the Super Eagles.

“It is an important match and we have to approach it with positive mindset. We have to justify why we are African champions.

“We really want to ask the Cameroonians to be with their team to push it forward and show that we did not win the Africa Cup of Nations by chance,” Bassogog remarked.

Cameroon and Nigeria will be facing off in crucial World Cup qualifying games next week and the Lions’ coach is leaving nothing to chance.

The first leg of the crunch qualifying games is billed for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 1 and the second leg on September 4 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
