Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has invited two players to the squad ahead of this week’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
Rohr is bringing on Aaron Samuel to the main list of initial 23 players called up for the home and away qualifying matches against the African champions.
The Russia-based striker replaces injured Alex Iwobi, who was ruled out for a thigh strain.
Iwobi, could be out until the second week of September according to Nigerian FA sources.
Samuel, 23, was earlier named among the seven players on standby when the list was released last week.
Also, midfielder Uche Agbo was promoted, though it is not immediately clear if the decision was another contingency.
The new development was announced on the Super Eagles official twitter handle on Sunday, without further explanations.
“Just in: Aaron Samuel called in to replace injured Alex Iwobi. Uche Agbo also invited.”
