Six-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, has made a surprising revelation about her life after football, firmly ruling out a future on the sidelines as a coach.
Widely known as “Agba Baller,” Oshoala is a towering figure in women’s football, a UEFA Women’s Champions League winner and a trailblazer across Europe and Asia.
Speaking candidly during an interactive fan session, the Nigerian superstar admitted she lacks the passion required for traditional coaching roles.
“I can never be a coach. I don’t think I have the passion to be a coach. That’s why I want to like, I want to manage players in the future.”
Instead, Oshoala made it clear her ambitions lie in player management, mentorship, and off-field development, areas she believes are often overlooked in modern sports.
“I Love Management” – Asisat Oshoala
The former FC Barcelona Femení star emphasized her desire to guide athletes in broader life aspects, including branding and personal growth.
“These are the type of things I love to do. I love management. I love helping people plan their lives, both on the pitch and off the pitch.”
She continued:
“I just want to help people in sports in general. Branding, you know, these things.”
“I want to help the younger generation because I feel like branding is another thing that is missing when it comes to like this modern day sports.”
Drawing from her own experiences, Oshoala highlighted gaps she faced growing up, gaps she now hopes to fill for the next generation.
“These are the things that I didn’t enjoy when I was growing up and I want to give it to the upcoming players.”
“Branding is very, very important. You need your face out there, not just in the sports section.”
“I Want to Coach People, Not From the Sidelines” – Oshoala
Clarifying her stance, Oshoala explained that while she enjoys mentoring, she has no interest in matchday coaching.
“Coaching can be different. You can coach people, but not like a soccer coach or a football coach.”
“You know what I mean? I want to coach people, but not sideline coach.”
“I prefer to be like a director or manager.”
CAF Controversy: Oshoala Speaks Out
Beyond her career plans, Oshoala also made headlines with a blistering reaction to a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The decision saw Senegal stripped of their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 title, with Morocco awarded a 3–0 forfeit victory after an Appeal Board ruling.
Reacting on social media, Oshoala did not hold back:
“In CAF book, not in OUR book!!!”
She went further, questioning what she described as a pattern favoring Morocco:
“The big question here is, when will this whole CAF compensation to Morocco end? Awards, tournaments and all… It’s getting boring now.”
“We need other countries to step up,”
“Morocco is the African champion in YOUR book (CAF), not in ours!!!”
