Nigeria football federation General Secretary, Dr. Sanusi Mohammed has reiterated that its petition before FIFA against the DR Congo for fielding ineligible players in the Africa world Cup playoffs final is under consideration.
The NFF chief reassured that Nigeria has a good strong case, stating that the Federation wouldn’t involve itself if they didn’t.
Penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo in November at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, ended Nigeria’s hopes of progressing to the Inter-Continental playoffs.

Weeks later, the NFF confirmed rumours that it had submitted a petition to FIFA contesting DR Congo’s eligibility for the playoffs.
Its argument is built on the premise of the DR Congo allegedly fielding ineligible players – who hold dual nationality and a breach of FIFA’s rules.
However, with only two months before the final leg of the playoffs, the NFF insists it is hopeful of a favorable judgment from the World governing body.

‘We have a good case,’ Sanusi told Brila.net. He continued, ‘We don’t venture into what we know is an exercise in futility.’
‘As far as we are concerned we have a good case and we are waiting for what FIFA will say as regards to the complaints we have logged.’
No date has been given yet, by FIFA, for the announcement of its verdict.
