McGregor v Mayweather: Up to 7,000 tickets remain unsold for mega-fight

Seven thousand tickets are still unsold for Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor in Las Vegas this weekend, it has been claimed.

The unbeaten American, Floyd Mayweather boasts a perfect 49-0 record, but has been out of action since ‘retiring’ following his victory over Andre Berto in September 2015.

The cheapest face value ticket for the fight is $500, with the most expensive an eye-watering $107,000.

McGregor insists he has had his eye on Mayweather for a long time, since the pound-for-pound king allegedly disrespected the sport of MMA.

“Originally that’s what woke me up,” said the UFC lightweight champ. “I was a young kid listening to him talk down about the sport that I was dedicating my entire life to.

“I’m talking years back, me as a kid.

“Then I realised we’re a similar weight, that was when he first came on my radar. I said, ‘You know what, I’m going to climb up, and I’m going into different disciplines, I will get that fight’.

“Throughout time I rose up – I’m a multiple weight champion – and then it turns out he was the one who came to me. Perfect.
