Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award following another outstanding season.
The Nigerian forward scored 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, helping Galatasaray win the league and cup double in Turkey.
Osimhen faces strong competition for the prestigious award, including Mohamed Salah, who recorded 34 goals and 23 assists while leading Liverpool to the Premier League title and earning the PFA Player of the Year award.
Achraf Hakimi is also among the nominees after contributing nine goals and 12 assists and collecting four trophies during PSG history campaign.

Other notable contenders include Fiston Mayele, who finished as the top scorer in last season’s CAF Champions League, scored a hat-trick in the FIFA African-Asian Pacific Cup final against Al Ahly, and netted the winning goal that secured the Super Cup for Pyramids FC.
The shortlist also features Serhou Guirassy, Denis Bouanga, André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Iliman Ndiaye, Oussama Lamlioui, and Pape Matar Sarr.
Nigeria also has representation in other award categories.
Stanley Nwabali has been nominated for CAF Goalkeeper of the Year following an excellent season with Chippa United in South Africa, where he helped his club to a strong league finish.

Nwabali has also been a starter for the Super Eagles, playing in almost all of the country’s World Cup and AFCON qualifiers, helping Nigeria qualify for the AFCON and World Cup Playoffs.
In the youth category, Nigeria U20 captain Daniel Bameyi has been shortlisted for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.

Bameyi played a crucial role in Nigeria’s run to the round of 16 of the U20 AFCON, contributing two goals, showing great leadership spirit and showcasing good defensive performances.
