Gernot Rohr reveals Top names invited for Crunch matches against Cameroon

Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Mikel Obi and Victor Moses have both been named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

Both players missed Nigeria’s 2019 Afcon qualifier against South Africa in Uyo and on that occasion, Rohr suffered his first defeat since taking charge of the super eagles.

“Mikel Obi is coming back after his injury. We missed him very much. Also, Victor Moses and Leon Balogun will also return to the team.”

“Unfortunately, we will be without our goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who is sick.”

Nigeria will battle Cameroon in World Cup Qualifiers Third round on the first of September, and play the return leg September 4, in Yaounde.

The Eagles will take on the Cameroonians in Uyo on September 1 with the second leg in Cameroon on September 4.

The clash in Nigeria will be officiated by Egyptian top official Ghead Grisha while the second leg will be officiated by Gambian Papa Gassama

Grisha will be assisted by Redouane Achik (Moroccan, Assistant Referee 1), Waleed Ahmed Ali (Sudanese, Assistant Referee 2) and Mahmoud Zakaria Mohamed (Egyptian, Fourth Official).

Former FIFA referee Felix Onias Tangawarima from Zimbabwe has been assigned as Referee Assessor, with Congolese Jean Médard Kossa as Match Commissioner.

The match will start at 5pm Nigeria time at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium

Nigeria is top of group B‎ with six points, four points more than second-placed Cameroon.

Announcement of the provisional list of invitees for the double header against the Indomitable Lions is expected this week.
