Ghana’s home-based defender, Razak Simpson has expressed pride following his inclusion in the Black Stars’ squad for the Unity Cup match against Nigeria, describing it as a “dream come true”.
Simpson, who plays for Nation FC in the Ghana PL, is among a select number of domestic players called up by head coach Otto Addo for the tournament.
The Unity Cup, scheduled to be held at the Brentford Community Stadium in London on May 28.
Ahead of the game, Simpson could not contain his excitement as he reflected on the honour of donning the national jersey for such a historic occasion.
“First of all, I would thank God and I would thank coach Otto Addo and his technical team for giving me this platform again,” Simpson began.
“It’s a dream come true again for me to represent my nation. This Unity Cup, I think, me personally, it’s a big move for me.”
Meanwhile, Simpson revealed that playing against Nigeria adds an extra layer of pride and motivation.
“I’m happy and I’m proud to be part of this history because to watch Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew playing against Nigeria… it looked so beautiful — the rivalry, the energy, the passion.”
