Sadiq Umar has declared his readiness to push for a shirt in the senior national team of Nigeria as he closes in on a season loan move from Roma to Torino.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com the giant 20 year old Umar said he is in a much better shape than ever in his career as this is his first real pre season as a professional footballer since his move to Roma two years ago.
Sadiq had a torrid time on loan to Bologna last season, but Jololo as he is fondly called by friends and team-mates has put the disappointment behind him as he looks forward to a strong year in Italy this season.
” I am ready to play my part for Nigeria, if I’m invited by the coach. I finished as top scorer for the team in Rio with the help of my team-mates I must say.
The U23s is a step before the senior team, I’m ready”, he exclusively told Owngoalnigeria.com.
He is expected to undergo a medical with Torino on today, seemingly putting an end to their search for a forward to complement Andrea Belotti, but according to respected transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio’s official website.
Sadiq Umar will join Torino on a season-long loan, with the view to a permanent move next summer for €6m.
However, Roma retain a counter-option to keep the 20-year-old at the end of his spell away for €2m.
