Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has assured fans that all players are fit and available for selection as the team prepares to face Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Bright Osayi-Samuel suffered a possible muscle injury during the second half of Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The full-back was substituted, with Alhassan Yusuf coming on to help close out the game. However, Chelle dismissed any concerns about his availability for the next match.
“No problem; all the players are fine and ready for the match, ”Chelle confidently stated in his post-match press conference.
The Super Eagles head into Tuesday’s match aiming to build on their win against Rwanda and climb the Group C standings.
Chelle also addressed his tactical decision to deploy Alhassan Yusuf at right-back instead of a natural full-back.
“We work it out on training session. On my analysis, I think it was the better choice. So I don’t make choice with luck. We work on the training session, we have two teams and after that I make better choice. I saw that from the training,” Chelle explained.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen was the standout performer in Nigeria’s win over Rwanda, scoring both goals in the first half to secure the Super Eagles’ first victory of the qualifiers.
The Galatasaray striker is expected to play a key role once again as Nigeria looks to capitalize on Zimbabwe’s struggles.
Zimbabwe sits bottom of the table with just three points from five matches and is yet to record a win in the qualifiers.
However, Chelle has warned that no game in African qualifiers is easy and expects his team to approach the match with full concentration.
